Fuzzy Enlightenment

Our modern day Gurus are busy making a business out of spirituality. They cling to words and phrases that have somehow attained esoteric status over the centuries. One of the most misunderstood and over used words is 'meditation'. It conveys an idea that it is a technique applied to spiritual awakening. These smiling gurus concoct a variety of methods that include regulated breathing, postures, concentration, etc. They call it 'practice' and talk about 'opening chakras' .... and show you a distant fuzzy goal termed 'enlightenment'.

MEDITATION is not something you "DO"! The moment you make an "effort' the mind gets into action ...... even the word 'meditation' is not helpful .... it becomes a quest for some 'kind of strange feeling' that is IMAGINARY; a creation of your own senses. You are actually mastering the art of self-hypnosis. It involves "auto suggestion' ....

In short, the IDEA OF MEDITATION evolved over centuries as a technique of "RELAXING YOUR MIND & BODY" ..... it has NOTHING TO DO WITH ATTAINING 'GREATNESS' or SPIRITUAL ADVANCEMENT. This relaxation technique has been mixed with religion and packaged and marketed as DIVINE BLISS.

When a person is relaxed and calm he/she can actually "FEEL GOOD". This is the real SECRET OF MEDITATION! There is no need to make it a MYSTERY ..... It's time to get off the magic carpet and deal with the 'real' world.                          

Recreation Vs Procreation

India's population has EXPLODED! The whole world has the impression the the LAND OF KAMASUTRA must be indulging in GRAND UNLIMITED/UNINHIBITED SEX SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. But the sad truth is that most Indians DO NOT HAVE SEXUAL INTERCOURSE ..... until they are married! Within a year of marriage they would quickly add a NUMBER to the booming population and keep adding more every year.

The new law introduced recently INCREASING AGE FOR SEXUAL CONSENT to 18 will make our society more repressed than it already is! WE MUST ENCOURAGE PRE-MARITAL SEX and CONSENTUAL SEX even at 16. With the INCREASED COST OF LIVING it is not advisable for two persons to get married and have children especially, 'if they have a very small income'. In fact, in our country it is IMPORTANT TO DISCOURAGE MARRIAGE as it only adds to the POPULATION.

It is better to ENCOURAGE SEX WITHOUT MARRIAGE. People should NOT GET MARRIED ONLY BECAUSE OF THE NEED TO HAVE SEX ..... it will result in LIFE LONG MISERY if they DO NOT HAVE A DECENT INCOME. If people can get the "SEX PROBLEM" out of the way, by having opportunities to enjoy sexual freedom outside the prison of wedlock, they can perhaps focus on more CREATIVE & PRODUCTIVE activities other than PROCREATION!

Many people think God blundered by creating WOMAN. But I support God's vision ..... he knew exactly what he was doing and what man ought to be doing. The watchword is 'doing' ..... Who needs 'rest' ?

Eaten by Guilt

I read this somewhere; a strange but logical way of making a choice: "I'm not vegetarian because I love animals, I'm vegetarian because I don't like vegetables."

I always feel uncomfortable when sitting at the same table with vegetarians. Their expressions register a very tiny change when they glance at my plate. I feel quite guilty, especially when they do not say anything. It's like a silent protest that pierces my mind .... a deafening indictment.

I sometimes wonder if there is way that I could capture the feelings, the pain, the fear and screams of the millions of plants like corn, rice, wheat, spinach, onions, beets, potatoes, etc as they are chopped up and plucked out by their roots.

The comparison between plants and animals could be silly ..... but who knows for sure? I feel better already, knowing that I could not be so wrong!

Upside Down

Climbing Mount Everest is an impressive feat and achievement. Imagine the feeling of a small human on top of this skyscraper - all the practice, discipline, focus, passion, sacrifice, pain and suffering, suddenly transforms into a moment of stunning silence and disbelief that gradually gives way to a feeling of triumphant joy.

Frankly, I never had even the slightest desire to climb a mountain or even a hillock. I remember as a kid I used to ride a bicycle up a slightly inclined road with a lot of effort. But the best part of this memory was the exhilerating downward ride ..... zooming down effortlessly!

Well, we all have our own little moments of joy ....
